On December 22, Hong Kong Park of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone(HSITP) held its grand opening ceremony. John Lee, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region（HKSAR), Qifang Xu, the Executive Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council，Ji Zhou, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR, and Huanghao Luo, Shenzhen's Vice Mayor, jointly presided over the ceremony.

As one of the key enterprises invited, Jason Wang, Co-founder and CEO of HiTHIUM, attended the ceremony and officially announced the establishment of HiTHIUM's Hong Kong International R&D Center within HSITP.
In his remarks, John Lee said the Hong Kong government will provide policy support and essential infrastructure to facilitate seamless movement of researchers between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. He expressed confidence that the Hetao zone will serve as a pioneering and experimental base for Hong Kong's innovation and technology development, as well as a model for innovation policies across the Greater Bay Area and on the global innovation map. He added that the zone will also contribute to the nation's high-quality development.
Ahead of the ceremony, Jason Wang met with the Chief Executive Mr. John Lee, the Financial Secretary Mr. Paul Chan and other leaders. During the discussion, he shared HiTHIUM's development journey, technological innovations, global footprint, and strategic plans for the international R&D center. He stated that Hong Kong is a crucial node in HiTHIUM’s global strategy and an important bridge to the global innovation ecosystem.

The newly established international R&D center will leverage Hong Kong's highly internationalized innovation environment and global resource integration capabilities, in combination with the Shenzhen-Hong Kong collaborative advantages. It will focus on applied research and validation in long-duration energy storage, sodium-ion batteries, and other critical technologies, with the goal of strengthening HiTHIUM's global competitiveness and building a collaborative innovation platform for energy storage.
Jason Wang explained during the Loop Talk that Hong Kong was a natural choice for HiTHIUM's international R&D center. As the global energy transition accelerates, both the Greater Bay Area and Hong Kong itself are positioning innovation and technology as key drivers of future growth—closely aligned with HiTHIUM's global strategy.

He noted that HSITP's unique location enables close collaboration between Shenzhen’s strong manufacturing and supply-chain ecosystem and Hong Kong's international connectivity and resource network. In addition, Hong Kong's concentration of world-class research institutions and global talent provides a strong foundation for advancing applied R&D in long-duration energy storage, sodium-ion batteries, and other next-generation technologies.
The establishment of HiTHIUM's Hong Kong International R&D Center is not only a milestone in the company’s internationalization journey but also a concrete step in supporting national strategies and promoting green development in the Greater Bay Area.
