September 11, 2025, Las Vegas, USA - On September 9, HiTHIUM, a global leader in energy storage technology, announced the signing of an agreement with Microgrid Networks LLC (MGN), a New York City-based leader in the energy transition. This collaboration marks HiTHIUM’s first energy storage project in New York City, further expanding its local footprint in North America while setting a benchmark for urban energy storage safety and sustainability.
HiTHIUM’s First Projects in New York City
This is HiTHIUM’s first projects in New York City. Under the agreement, HiTHIUM will supply the full AC package, featuring its ∞Block 5MWh BESS.
“We are thrilled to launch our first project in New York City in partnership with MGN,” said Mizhi Zhang, HiTHIUM’s President of Global Business. “Safety is at the core of our energy storage solutions. With the ∞Block 5MWh BESS achieving TM-2 certification and successfully completing the world’s first all open-door large-scale fire test, we are setting a new benchmark for operational safety and resilience in urban environments. By combining our safety-leading technology with MGN’s local expertise, we aim to deliver reliable and sustainable energy solutions tailored to the needs of New York City.”
“We see HiTHIUM’s unique energy storage solutions as increasingly essential for local reliability and resiliency,” said Tony Maselli, CEO of Microgrid Networks. “This collaboration not only brings cutting-edge technology to our market but also helps New York achieve its goal to integrate additional renewables. Together, we’re laying the foundation for a more resilient and sustainable energy future.”
Built for Safety, Validated by Industry-Leading Testing
HiTHIUM’s ∞Block 5MWh BESS has received a TM-2 Certificate of Approval (COA) from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). Recognized as one of the most rigorous fire safety certifications for energy storage systems in North America, the TM-2 COA establishes a high standard for operational safety and readiness for deployment in urban environments.
This milestone marks HiTHIUM’s entry into the New York market and reinforces its commitment to world-class safety and engineering. With FDNY TM-2 certification, the ∞Block 5MWh BESS is now approved for deployment across all five boroughs of New York City including Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Staten Island, and Queens, as well as other jurisdictions recognizing the FDNY COA.
HiTHIUM’s latest all open-door large-scale fire test conducted with the ∞Block 5MWh energy storage system represents a major leap forward in safety validation. As the world’s first open-door fire test of its kind, it demonstrates commitment to transparency and resilience under real-world conditions and sets a new industry benchmark for fire safety and structural integrity. The successful outcome, certified by UL Solutions, positions HiTHIUM as a leader in ESS safety and readiness for deployment in complex urban jurisdictions like New York City.
In recent years, HiTHIUM has expanded its presence in the U.S. market by establishing office service locations in New York, Fremont, Dallas, and other regions to provide localized support through its teams of engineers, technicians, sales specialists, and other staff. With the shipment of its first energy storage systems from a newly completed manufacturing facility in Texas in August this year, HiTHIUM has officially transitioned from construction to full-scale local production in North America. Together, these developments reflect a growing operational footprint across the United States, enabling HiTHIUM to better serve local partners and contribute to the evolving energy storage landscape with localized manufacturing and responsive service infrastructure.
By joining forces with respected industry players like MGN, HiTHIUM is not only expanding its global footprint but also reinforcing its commitment to pioneering solutions that support the shift toward a more sustainable energy ecosystem.
